Car purchase pain
Finding your next car can be a time-consuming and emotionally draining process, especially when navigating through a wide range of makes and models across multiple dealerships. Toyota Australia has reimagined this journey with the launch of the new Used Vehicle Reimagined website, designed to make buying a second-hand vehicle easier, faster, and more enjoyable for its customers. With access to around 10,000 vehicles at any time, the platform allows potential buyers to effortlessly search and browse Toyota retailers used vehicle stock from across the country.
In addition to this extensive inventory, the site highlights Toyota Certified Pre-Owned Vehicles, offering market-leading benefits like rigorous inspections, extended warranties, and the peace of mind that comes with buying a quality-assured vehicle. By providing a modern user interface and DX-first ecommerce solution, Toyota enables customers to confidently find, explore, and even purchase their ideal vehicle entirely online, making the experience as smooth as possible.
Headless ecommerce platform
In collaboration with Sitecore’s implementation partner Deloitte Digital and Toyota's design partner, R/GA. The company transformed its existing monolithic Sitecore XP solution to the Sitecore XM headless content management system and decided to utilize some of Sitecore’s SaaS and API-first DXP offerings including Sitecore Search, Sitecore Discover, and Sitecore OrderCloud’s headless commerce solution in their tech stack. The Sitecore OrderCloud headless ecommerce platform has been integrated with the Next.js open-source web development framework to modernize the digital ecosystem, improve workflows and back-end systems as well as user experience, and better meet customer demand.
The modern, headless approach to the new ecommerce architecture and DXP has fostered modular content and component architecture for Toyota’s digital properties. It enables Toyota to build a unique composable commerce engine, order management, and marketplace solutions and is a foundation to meeting current business needs and delivering more functionality and scalability across touchpoints. Much of the success of the project is down to meticulous planning, coordination, and technical expertise between the Toyota team, Deloitte Digital, and Sitecore.
Modern digital experience
Sitecore has helped Toyota Australia deliver a digital commerce transformation of its used vehicle services. When looking for their next car, visitors to Toyota Australia’s website get a fast and efficient ecommerce experience with advanced ecommerce functionality. The Sitecore-powered DXP uses AI to ‘learn’ visitor preferences, helping to make searching the product catalog and accessing product information seamless. Already the new headless architecture is delivering impressive time to market results with overall website performance significantly faster than before. Key page load times, for example, are 40% quicker and site reliability has increased by 45%.
Conversion rates on incoming traffic has increased by 25% since transitioning to the new platform. This enables Toyota to optimize customers seamless experience with increased page load efficiencies and better user engagement. The Toyota staff experience has also improved as the time to create and deploy new components and content has been cut by weeks. Part of that has been achieved by increasing content and component re-use by almost 50%.
The digital transformation of Toyota Australia's Used Vehicle Program leverages the headless Sitecore platform and Sitecore composable technologies to create a future-proof omnichannel experience for digitally savvy customers.
