Mending disparate solutions
In 2024, POLIMI GSoM was ranked as a global top 100 business school and part of Europe’s second-best technical university by Financial Times’ Global MBA Ranking 2024. The organization was keen to reflect its academic prowess in its digital experience. But it was hindered by disparate solutions across various customer services, leading to fragmented experiences and operational inefficiencies. Several student-facing frontend technologies were complex to manage and inconsistent for users. Data flow and operations were stifled by poor integration between internal and external systems. At the same time, the organization was under pressure to revamp its website and ecommerce capabilities and improve all these aspects of digital experience in record time.
Delivering a unified experience
Collaborating with Sitecore and its business partner, Avanade, POLIMI GSoM has deployed Sitecore OrderCloud, Sitecore Search, Sitecore XM Cloud, and Sitecore Personalize. It has established a unified experience for website navigation and commerce and streamlined interactions to enhance user satisfaction and operational efficiency. The Sitecore DXP integrates with the Microsoft Dynamics 365 CRM application as a central point of truth to unify data and processes and ensure consistency and accuracy across all touchpoints. POLIMI GSoM chose Sitecore because it was the best optimal solution to integrate disparate systems, streamline front-end technologies, and provide a unified, seamless experience for both users and administrators. The headless and Next.js technology allowed more development flexibility and faster time to market for complex changes.
Digital transformation in just 6 months
Within just six months, Sitecore had enabled POLIMI GSoM to transform its digital landscape with a replatformed website and re-energized customer experience. Now web page load times are 300% faster. Integrating ecommerce and a new payment system into the new website has automated sales and cut time from sale to enrolled student to just five minutes. Consolidating previous systems onto the Sitecore DXP and creating a single source of truth means website, ecommerce, and student services are managed via one front end, improving internal operations by up to 100%. In addition, using CRM in conjunction with Sitecore for commerce implementation and content creation has reduced manual duplication and data errors, leading to a more than 100% saving in content management operational costs. Content is now modular, so it is quick and easy to use to build new pages and services.
