ONEOK boosts digital agility with Sitecore

ONEOK has significantly grown its portfolio over the years through a number of acquisitions, including Magellan Midstream Partners in September 2023. Each acquisition brings new pipelines and/or assets, which require integrating new information into ONEOK’s website to inform the public and remain within compliance. However, ONEOK faced challenges with its legacy website environment. Outdated and unsupported technologies led to high infrastructure costs and a lack of agility, with lengthy deployment and content publishing times. In addition to enabling faster content updates, ONEOK also aimed to enhance the overall user experience on its website, particularly its search capabilities.

Working with Perficient, ONEOK upgraded its Sitecore XP-based web environment to Sitecore XM Cloud and Sitecore Search to create a composable, future-proof architecture. Together, they updated the main landing page and seamlessly migrated several additional pipeline sites to the new platform. The redesigned website was built using the Next.js web development framework hosted on Vercel. The team leveraged Telerik React components to visualize company data, which helped with compliance and regulatory reporting requirements.

ONEOK’s new website offers an improved user experience with better site performance, demonstrated by Google Lighthouse scores in the upper 90s. Sitecore XM Cloud’s seamless authoring experience and tools empower the content team to create, update, and publish content faster than previously. Sitecore Search enhances the search experience for users with its ability to index multiple sources, complemented by its AI-powered capabilities. With Sitecore at the heart of ONEOK’s new website environment, the company has reduced infrastructure costs, increased marketing productivity, and accelerated publishing times for new content. These factors will empower the company to make quicker and easier site updates in compliance with industry regulations.
